When the weather heats up, staying hydrated doesn’t have to mean forcing down endless glasses of plain water. Iced herbal tea is one of the most refreshing (and flavour-packed) ways to keep fluids up during summer — and it’s incredibly easy to make at home.

Whether you’re lounging in the backyard, heading to the beach, or just trying to get through a hot afternoon, iced herbal tea offers hydration with a little lift.

Why Iced Herbal Tea Is Perfect for Summer

Herbal teas are naturally caffeine-free or low in caffeine (depending on the blend), easy on the body, and full of plant flavour. Served cold, they’re:

  • Refreshing and cooling

  • A tasty way to drink more fluids

  • Gentle on digestion

  • Easy to batch-brew and keep in the fridge

Some blends also include herbs or botanicals that help you feel a little more awake and refreshed — perfect for that mid-afternoon slump.

How to Make Iced Herbal Tea (Two Easy Methods)

Method 1: Cold Brew (Best Flavour, Least Bitterness)

Cold brewing is my favourite way to make iced herbal tea — it brings out smooth, rounded flavours with no bitterness.

You’ll need:

  • 1–2 tablespoons loose-leaf herbal tea

  • 1 litre cold filtered water

  • A jar or jug with a lid

Steps:

  1. Add the loose-leaf tea to your jug.

  2. Pour over cold water.

  3. Cover and place in the fridge for 8–12 hours (overnight works perfectly).

  4. Strain and serve over ice.

Cold-brewed tea keeps well in the fridge for up to 2–3 days.

Method 2: Hot Brew & Chill (When You’re Short on Time)

You’ll need:

  • 1 tablespoon loose-leaf herbal tea

  • 1 litre hot (not boiling) water

Steps:

  1. Steep the tea for 10–15 minutes.

  2. Strain and allow it to cool.

  3. Refrigerate until cold, then serve over ice.

Tip: Brew it slightly stronger than usual, as ice will dilute the flavour.

Elevate Your Iced Tea (Optional Add-Ins)

  • Fresh citrus slices (lemon, lime, orange)

  • Fresh herbs like mint or lemon balm

  • A splash of coconut water

  • Frozen fruit instead of ice cubes

Keep it simple — iced herbal tea shines when the botanicals are allowed to speak for themselves.

Iced Teas That Hydrate and Pick You Up

If you’re looking for iced teas that refresh while giving you a gentle lift, these blends are made for summer sipping:

🌅 Sunset Serenade

Bright, vibrant, and refreshing — this blend is perfect served ice-cold. It’s a great daytime tea that feels uplifting without being heavy, making it ideal for hot mornings or afternoons when energy dips.

🌴 Island Bloom

A tropical-inspired iced tea that tastes like summer in a glass. Light, fragrant, and refreshing, Island Bloom is beautiful, cold-brewed and enjoyed slowly on warm days.

🍍 Ginger & Pineapple

Zesty, warming, and surprisingly refreshing when iced. Ginger and pineapple bring a natural zing that helps wake the senses — perfect for a mid-day pick-me-up that still keeps hydration front and centre.

All three teas are delicious cold-brewed and easy to keep on hand in the fridge for grab-and-go hydration.

Make Hydration Something You Look Forward To

Staying hydrated in summer doesn’t have to be boring. With iced herbal tea, you’re not just drinking water — you’re enjoying flavour, ritual, and a moment of refreshment.

Brew a jug, pop it in the fridge, and let your tea do the rest 🌿🧊
